Expert Advice

How can I reduce the noise emission of a vacuum pump?

Flexible mounting

By choosing a speed-controller pump. The Vacuum Pump V-300 / V-710* in conjunction with the Interface I-300 / I-300 Pro are operating only when required. This significantly reduces the noice emission and extends the lifetime of the pump.

*V-710 reqires the LegacyBox for speed-controlled operation.

What is the advantage of the secondary condenser compared to an in-line condenser between pump and distillation unit?

If the solvent is expanded first to ambient pressure, the vapor pressure is increased and thus a condensation much more efficient. This is the reason why the secondary condenser is at the pressure side of the pump. Due to the chemical resistance of the diaphragm pump, even aggressive gases and vapors do not harm the pump.

How do I efficiently use the gas ballast?

The gas ballast is an easy method to adjust leakage air to the pump heads. This addition of inert gas helps to dry the diaphragms in case of condensate and thus increase the pump rate again. Typically, the gas ballast is closed to obtain highest flow rate.

How can I reset the power save mode?

The power save mode mode can be reset by simply switching the pump off and on again.

Why are there some condensate droplets on the diaphragm?

If the distillation parameters are not chosen according to the "delta 20 rule" (10-30-50), the condensation is not complete and vapor is entering into the pump. Due to the high vacuum in the second stage, the vapor may condensate, leading to droplets. Thus, the pressure has to be increased or the cooling temperature of the condensation assembly decreased.

Is the final vacuum affected by the power save mode?

No, the final vacuum is not affected by the power save mode. It only reduces the speed of the pump which reduces the capacity after 1 hour to 1.6 m3/h and after 2 hour to 1.0 m3/h.
