BÜCHI Labortechnik AG, the world leader in rotary evaporation, introduced a ground-breaking laboratory system with the launch of the Rotavapor® R-300 on September 1st, 2015.

Rotary evaporators are typically used to remove solvents following chemical reactions under vacuum conditions. With over 60 years of experience in delivering rotary evaporators and extensive client consultation to ensure that the design is intuitive, the BÜCHI Rotavapor® R-300 sets new standards in safety, efficiency and ease of use.

With its fully-integrated, modular design, the R-300 is versatile enough to suit a wide range of laboratory needs. All the systems interact with the vacuum controller, ensuring that the one centralised process controller runs every component. This helps to reduce the negative effects that can come with automated rotary evaporators, such as excessive noise, heat loss and solvent loss.

The result is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly system that saves water, reduces energy costs, and delivers reliable complex solutions completely automated. Thanks to an inbuilt foam sensor, the R-300 can even handle automatic distillation of foaming samples!

And if the system does determine that manual intervention is required, a notification will be sent to the user’s smartphone.

Win a brand new R-300!

To celebrate the release of this leading technology in Rotavaps, In Vitro Technologies is giving you the opportunity to win a brand new BÃœCHI R-300!

See below for details on how to enter.

Reproducible, adaptable processes

The R-300 comes with programmable standard operating procedures (SOPs). You can pre-program each step, allowing you to ensure repeatability and reliability. This allows you to guide users through routine processes. Even users without distillation knowledge can run the system safely and efficiently.

To further help ensure repeatability, the R-300 allows you to instantly log and record documentation and logged process parameters to an SD card.

Modular Design

The Rotavapor® R-300 is modular in design, allowing it to be configured exactly to your needs. As processes change over time it’s easy to include additional components, such as heating baths, vacuum pumps, and additional control units.

There are no complicated installation steps. Just attach your new components and update your SOPs!

Convenient time and cost saving features

The Rotavapor® R-300 system has been designed to keep boiling points as low as possible to reduce the loss of solvents and heat emissions.

A lot of research has gone into the design to ensure that its components are intuitive and easy to use. This includes:

Quiet operations

The high-performance pump has been designed to be as quiet as possible, helping to reduce noise in your workspace. By linking the recirculating chiller to the evaporation system and vacuum controller, noise levels have been further reduced as the vacuum controller supervises the pump and chiller to ensure that they only run when and if needed.

Automatic distillation of complex samples

Even demanding samples can be distilled unattended thanks to state of the art SOPs that automatically lead step-by-step through the process. The new AutoDest feature enables automatic distillation of complex mixtures. And if the system determines that manual intervention is required at any point, a notification is sent to the user’s smartphone.

Thanks to an in-built foam senser, the AutoDest can even handle foaming samples. As foam begins to develop, the system will automatically detect its presence and temporarily suppress ventilation.
